Outstanding results for CECCE’s students on provincial tests

OTTAWA – The Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre-Est (CECCE) is proud of the results achieved by its grade 3 and 6 students on the provincial tests administered last spring by the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO). Our students’ results are the best in the province in four of the six categories released today: grade 3 and 6 mathematics and grade 3 reading and writing.

The vast majority of grade 3 and 6 students exceeded the provincial standard by demonstrating good comprehension (level 3) or in-depth comprehension (level 4) in the subjects evaluated. Indeed, 88% of grade 3 students achieved level 3 or 4 performance in reading and writing and 85% did so on in mathematics. The grade 6 students also obtained very satisfactory results, with 93% achieving level 3 or 4 performance in reading, 92% in writing and 86% doing so in mathematics.

The CECCE also wishes to highlight the results of four schools in which 100% of the students achieved a level 3 or 4 performance in all three subject areas evaluated, namely reading, writing, and mathematics. This exploit was achieved by the grade 3 students attending École élémentaire catholique J.-L.-Couroux as well as the grade 6 students attending École élémentaire catholique Marius-Barbeau, École élémentaire catholique Saint-Guillaume, and École élémentaire catholique Sainte-Kateri.

In the provincial EQAO report released today, we also note that the staff team at École élémentaire catholique Saint-François-d’Assise was recognized for how they are using the EQAO data to improve their educational approach. (available here)

The students of East-Central Ontario’s French-language Catholic schools are once again standing out through the excellence of their results. As Bernard Roy, Director of Education of the CECCE, explained, “Our students’ success would not be possible without the support of all CECCE staff members, who every day provide students with the supervision and attention they need to ensure their wellness and success. The dedication shown by our staff makes it possible to engage all students in learning, pursuing their dreams, and building a better world.”

The Chair of the CECCE, Denis Poirier, is also pleased with the students’ results on the EQAO tests. “These results demonstrate that the CECCE continues to excel through its innovative educational practices, which transform the students’ learning experience and help them reach their full potential.”

With over 21,000 students attending 41 elementary schools, 10 secondary schools, and its school for adults, the CECCE represents the largest Canadian network of French-language schools outside Quebec.
