Good News for CECCE Daycare Centres

CECCE Schools Gain 93 New Daycare Spaces

December 20, 2017, OTTAWA - This morning, the Minister Responsible for Francophone Affairs, the Honourable Marie-France Lalonde, announced the creation of new daycare spaces. The provincial government will invest $10,385,912 in 24 child care rooms in Ottawa. The announcement accompanied that of Premier Kathleen Wynne, who announced the creation of new child care spaces in nearly 200 Ontario schools. Both are part of Ontario’s commitment to help 100,000 children four and under access child care over the next five years.

The Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre-Est (CECCE) will use its share of the funding, $2,601,520, to renovate and expand three schools in Ottawa and one in Trenton.

  • École élémentaire catholique Lamoureux ($1,038,591.23): school expansion to create 15 new toddler spaces and 24 new preschool spaces

  • École élémentaire catholique Roger-Saint-Denis ($519,295.61): school expansion to create 24 new preschool spaces and a new EarlyON centre for local families;

  • École élémentaire catholique Arc-en-ciel ($519,295.61): renovations to create 15 new toddler spaces

  • École élémentaire catholique L’Envol ($524,337.55): school expansion to create 15 new toddler spaces

CECCE Chair Johanne Lacombe is very pleased with the announcement. “This is excellent news for all school communities because parents have been asking for new child care spaces for their children for a long time now.”

Director of Education Réjean Sirois thanked the Government of Ontario and the Ministry of Education on behalf of the CECCE. “This funding and the new child care spaces it creates will give more children a better start in life by supporting their well-being and development and helping them prepare for school.”

The Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre-Est considers the early years to be of vital importance and is fortunate to be working with outstanding early learning partners who play a key role in the learning continuum. They provide an environment that supports growth and development throughout the crucial early years during which children acquire the essential life skills that set them up for success, such as socializing, communicating, expressing emotions, and sharing.

New Daycare at Kemptville Pavilion of École élémentaire catholique Sainte-Marguerite-Bourgeoys

December 20, 2017, OTTAWA -  The Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre-Est (CECCE) is pleased to announce that it will soon be opening a new daycare at the École élémentaire catholique Sainte-Marguerite-Bourgeoys’s Kemptville Pavilion. The Ontario Ministry of Education has granted the CECCE permission under the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014, to operate a licensed daycare in its Kemptville facility.

The CECCE invested $215,000 in setting up the dedicated daycare space, and the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville generously contributed another $109,000.

In September 2017, the Pavilion had five preschool daycare spaces, which was the maximum allowed prior to obtaining a license. Now it can accommodate eight preschoolers. According to Director of Education Réjean Sirois, the CECCE would happily meet any demand for more spaces. The Ministry of Education license authorizes the Kemptville Pavilion to add 10 new toddler spaces and 16 preschool spaces for a total of up to 26 spaces.

CECCE Chair Johanne Lacombe is very pleased with the announcement, which will enhance to board’s services to families. “The CECCE’s goal is to provide services that meet the needs of the francophone population, so this announcement is a welcome and timely one for the Kemptville community as the new year approaches.”
