Changes to the CECCE Board of Trustees

OTTAWA, December 4, 2014 – Board trustees were sworn in for their new four-year terms at the Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre-Est’s inaugural and organizational meeting tuesday evening.

The Honourable Madeleine Meilleur, Minister Responsible for Francophone Affairs, was on hand to swear in the 11 trustees. There are two new faces at the table: Trustee Robert Lemelin, who represents taxpayers in Renfrew and South Algonquin, and Trustee Anouk Tremblay, who represents Lanark, Leeds and Grenville.

Denis Poirier, the board trustee for Beacon Hill-Cyrville and Rideau-Rockcliffe, was reappointed as Chair of the board. “I am proud to be able to work with the other trustees to promote the CECCE’s new vision,” he said. “We will continue to lobby Ontario’s Minister of Education for quality facilities for our students, their families and the whole community.” Trustee Johanne Lacombe’s mandate as Vice-Chair was also extended for a second term.

The Director of Education, Bernard Roy, took the opportunity to present highlights from the 2013-14 annual report. Mr. Roy gave an overview of the CECCE’s successes of the past year and underscored the contributions of a number of individuals. “Board trustees contribute so much by making good decisions in the best interests of our students and our school communities,” he said. The Director of Education also thanked parents for their trust and recognized the passion of all staff members who work to ensure the well-being and success of every child.
