CECCE Principal Receives Canada’s Outstanding Principals Award

January 31, 2018, OTTAWA - The Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre-Est (CECCE) is proud to announce that Marie-Claude Veilleux, principal of Collège catholique Mer Bleue in Orleans, is one of 40 Canadian principals, 14 of them from Ontario, who will be honoured at the Canada’s Outstanding Principals awards gala in Toronto on February 27, 2018. This prestigious national prize is awarded by The Learning Partnership.

Throughout her career in education, Marie-Claude Veilleux has demonstrated professionalism, passion for education, a positive attitude and genuine care and compassion for people. Ever since her early days in education, she has enthusiastically embraced all of her duties with the extraordinary effectiveness of a true leader.

“Although she has been at Collège catholique Mer Bleue for just a short time, her ability to articulate a strong vision and unite staff, students, parents, and the whole community in working to achieve it has been impressive. She mobilized the people she works with and those she works for to create a genuinely caring high school environment that is eminently conducive to student success and everyone’s fulfilment,” said Johanne Lacombe, CECCE Chair. “In fact, last year the school won the Premier’s Award for Accepting Schools thanks to the culture of caring she established there.”

“Ms. Veilleux’s leadership in the field of education, engagement with the community and commitment to integrating innovative methods that have a direct impact on student success make her an outstanding principal, and the CECCE is honoured to have her on its team,” said Réjean Sirois, CECCE Director of Education. “I know how valuable each and every member of the entire CECCE team is, and it makes me so proud when some of them are singled out for recognition by the wider community. Many of our principals deserve this honour.”

Canada’s Outstanding Principals award recipients will participate in an exclusive leadership training program at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management, one of Canada’s top business schools. They will also join the ranks of the National Academy of Principals, a community of over 400 leading educators recognized by The Learning Partnership.
