CECCE Activities and Partnerships Impress Internationally

May 11, 2018, OTTAWA -  The Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre-Est (CECCE) is very proud of its agreements and collaborations with many actors in the field of education around the world. With so many activities on the go, the CECCE’s reputation is growing here at home and internationally.

  • CECCE dropout prevention strategies inspire Belgian educators

A delegation from Belgium visited the CECCE recently to discuss dropout prevention and learn about the teaching and learning strategies the board uses to reduce dropout rates.

  • French climate change researcher visits students

On April 23, a scientist from Marseille, France, introduced Grade 6, 7 and 8 students at the Kemptville Pavilion of École catholique Sainte-Marguerite Bourgeoys to methods for collecting data about plants and animals that will contribute to climate change research.

  • Win a spot on an Arctic expedition

The CECCE will send two high school students to the Far North to take part in an extraordinary educational experience from July 23 to August 7, 2018. This once-in-a-lifetime trip is worth almost $13,000.

  • Unique opportunity to go to camp in China

The CECCE is also opening up opportunities in Asia. Five students and one teacher will be selected to go to a summer camp in China organized by the Beijing International Education Exchange Center (BIEE). From July 16 to 25, CECCE students will take part in a variety of activities with other students from around the world.

The CECCE, a portal to the world

“The CECCE enables its students to explore everything the world has to offer. The board is making unique opportunities available to students while supporting them as they pursue their dreams and work toward achieving their full potential,” said Johanne Lacombe, CECCE Chair.

“As a recognized leader in transforming the learning experience, the CECCE will leverage these international collaborations to draw on its partners’ innovative practices while integrating new technologies that support learning,” said Réjean Sirois, Director of Education. “To cite just one example among many, the Académie de Lyon inspired the CECCE to give a student with leukemia a robot that enables him to participate in classroom activities,” added Mr. Sirois.

International partnerships also enable the CECCE’s International Office to achieve the goals set out in its strategic plan. The Office’s mission is to coordinate international student recruitment efforts and advise senior board officials on how to set up international collaboration agreements.
