Académie catholique Ange-Gabriel Students Deliver Another Solid Performance in Provincial Testing

BROCKVILLE, September 20, 2017 - Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) test results were announced this morning, and once again, a very strong showing by grade 3, 6, 9 and 10 students at Académie catholique Ange-Gabriel (ACAG) has solidified the school’s reputation as one of the best in the province.

For the fourth year in a row, 100% of the grade 6 students demonstrated deep understanding (level 4) or good understanding (level 3) in reading. Their writing scores improved significantly with 96% attaining level 3 or 4 in 2017 compared to 91% in 2016. Académie Ange-Gabriel students also delivered an outstanding performance in mathematics, scoring 96% compared to the Ontario average of 82%.

In reading, 88% of grade 3 students performed at level 3 or 4, as did 79% of them in writing and 88% in mathematics, surpassing the provincial average for mathematics by 12 percentage points.

Académie Ange-Gabriel can also be proud of the fact that, for the second year in a row, 100% of its grade 9 students passed the academic math test and and 100% of its grade 10 students passed the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT).

“Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre-Est (CECCE) staff care deeply about student success and well-being, which shows in their academic results, their enthusiasm for learning and their desire to excel. I am grateful to parents for entrusting their children’s education to our skilled CECCE professionals, who are committed to continuously improving their teaching practices to ensure the success of every student,” said school trustee Anouk Tremblay.

CECCE Director of Education Réjean Sirois is also thrilled with the results. “I am very pleased to see that Centre-Est Catholic schools such as Académie catholique Ange-Gabriel have achieved such high scores, which are a testament to the quality education we offer, the leadership of school administrators, and the dedication of our teaching staff to supporting student success and the pursuit of excellence.”
