Is Your Family Preparing to Move to the Ottawa Area?

THERE’S A PLACE FOR YOUR CHILD AT ONE OF OUR SCHOOLS!

A broad choice of schools

Funded by the Government of Ontario, the Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre-Est has 54 high performing schools across a region that includes the greater Ottawa area, as well as Kingston, Pembroke, Trenton, Merrickville, Kemptville, Carleton Place and Brockville.

Our schools have children from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12. Our Junior and Senior Kindergarten program begins at age 4. French-language daycare services for children from 18 months to 4 years old, and extended day programs up to Grade 6 are also available in our elementary schools. Thanks to the quality of the education provided in the CECCE’s Catholic schools, our graduates are accepted into the college or university programs of their choice, in both French- and English-language institutions.

Overall, 96% of our students earn their Ontario Secondary School Diploma. They are also top-ranked on provincial testing (EQAO).

Unparalleled support

Your situation is unique, and that’s why those of our schools with a high proportion of military families work together with Military Family Resource Centres to offer you additional resources. Among other things, your child can access psychological support, provided at all times by social workers and educators who are specially trained to meet their needs. It’s not uncommon for children to feel anxiety when one or both of their parents are deployed. This is a common situation in our schools in military communities. The school staff is equipped to support your child.

As well, at the high-school level, school staff makes a point of recommending that students take the mandatory courses they need to earn their diploma as soon as possible, in case the family is transferred. Given the high turnover rate of military families in our schools, our staff members have developed the ability to adapt quickly to the needs of each and every student entrusted to our care. More importantly, our positive, safe school environments, ensured by the Positive Behavioural Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program (available in French only), make it easy and quick for students to adapt to their new school.

French? Naturally! And English, of course!

At the Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre-Est, teaching and school life take place entirely in French. Many activities are organized throughout the school year so that students can fully experience their culture.

English starts being taught in Grade 4 and continues until Grade 12. High school students take courses in English that are identical in every way to the classes given in English-language schools. The quality of their bilingualism is undisputed.

The majority of students who attend our schools become fluent in English without sacrificing their French.

Catholicity: A foundation of the CECCE’s schools

In our schools, the school environment and activities are imbued with Christian values: love, respect, joy, hope, peace, justice and courage. Religious instruction is provided from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8, and religion courses (including one mandatory course) are offered at the high-school level.

In partnership with families, the parish and the community, we devote class time to preparing for the religious sacraments of reconciliation, first communion (Grade 2) and confirmation (Grade 6-8).

Admission criteria

To enroll your child in one of our French-language Catholic schools, at least one of the two parents must meet our language and religious criteria. At the high school level, the CECCE also opens its doors all religious denominations. In all cases, students must abide by the Catholic nature of their school and its programs.
