Registration for CECCE Schools Is Open

February 5, 2016, OTTAWA - The Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre-Est (CECCE) invites families with a child born in 2012, families new to the region, and families seeking excellence in education to contact their local school to find out more about the school, the CECCE, and how to register.

Families can register their children in CECCE’s French Catholic schools any time, but the board is making a special effort to meet with new families between now and February 12. Registering now enables schools to prepare for the arrival of new students at the beginning of the coming school year.

There are so many reasons to enrol your child in a CECCE French Catholic school:

  • All instruction and school activities take place in French. Development of each student’s identity is a priority in CECCE schools. Christian values and culture are front and centre.

  • Many resources are available to students who need extra help with French when they start school.

  • Students learn English beginning in grade 4. This is not a second language course; it is the same English curriculum taught in English-language schools.

  • Once they complete their studies, students are bilingual, are fluent in both official languages, receive an internationally recognized bilingual certification, and have access to more post-secondary options than students who attended an English school.

  • The Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre-Est has the highest graduation rate in Ontario, French and English boards combined. 96% of students enrolled in grade 9 in 2011 graduated last June. The CECCE’s drop-out rate has been just 1% for many years.

“The CECCE has all kinds of initiatives to engage students in learning and ensure their success. Clearly, those initiatives are working very well,” explained Réjean Sirois, CECCE Director of Education. “High school concentrations, extra-curricular activities, and support from our student success teams enable our students to achieve their full potential and succeed.”

  • Over 94% of parents are satisfied, according to surveys administered every two years.

“I am very proud that so many parents who choose French Catholic education for their child are satisfied,” said Johanne Lacombe, CECCE Chair. “This speaks to the confidence they have in their child’s school, and we appreciate it. Most parents who choose a CECCE school have three other options. They make the best choice for their child, and our satisfaction rates confirm that CECCE schools meet their expectations.”

Registration for CECCE schools is open. Interested parents can find out more by contacting their local school or by calling the registration office at 613 746-3837.
